Arthemort Discovery of the Month #2 🤯
by our lead curator @arthemort
Stefano Colferai is a self-taught sculptor with a background in illustration, graphic design and photography.
In 2014, attracted by 3D, sculpture and DIY, he started to create with plasticine a strong identity inspired by pop culture and contemporary icons. Colferai gives his own vision of the world through still frames and stop motion using a clever synthesis of his various influences.

Stop motion as a technique has existed for over a century and has a rich history of technical breakthrough. The genre as a film category has been popularised through various films such as Chicken Run or Wallace & Gromit produced by the animation studio, Aardman . This technic has slowly become less profitable due to the rise of digital CGI, however it retains a unique aesthetic that many contemporary cinematographers, such as Tim Burton, go back to.

Brands also understand the nostalgic feeling provided by practical visual effects and stop-motion animation, during his career Stefano has had the chance to collaborate with Apple, Nike, Converse, Adidas, Footlocker, Uniqlo, WeTransfer, Sky, NBA and Disney.
Believing in web 3.0 and digital renaissance, he minted his first NFT on SuperRare in 2021 and, on the same year, took part in the 1st Sotheby's Metaverse auction with the work Behind the Musk.
